The Trans Canada Trail network now extends on the Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail (OVRT) from Smith Falls in Lanark County, through Renfrew County. Trans Canada Trail is an organization that advocates for, stewards, and champions Canada’s nationwide trail system. It is a registered charity that receives funding from the Government of Canada (through Parks Canada), various provincial and municipal governments, and generous donors. The Trans Canada Trail is the longest multi-use trail system in the world and is always growing. Covering more than 29,000 kilometers, it traverses urban, rural, remote, and wilderness landscapes, reaching every province and territory, and connecting all three of Canada’s coastlines. Each section of the Trans Canada Trail is managed locally and supports different activities and community needs.
"The addition of the Algonquin Trail into the Trans Canada Trail network is a proud moment for the County of Renfrew,” said Renfrew County Warden Peter Emon. “This milestone exemplifies our dedication to creating a vibrant, connected community that celebrates the County’s natural beauty through outdoor recreation."
The County invites all outdoor enthusiasts to experience the charm of Renfrew County through this dynamic addition to the Trans Canada Trail network.
