Elementary and secondary school education is provided by four school boards of which two are in Renfrew County. The Renfrew County District School Board is comprised of twenty-four elementary schools, seven secondary schools and four alternative schools. The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board provides twenty elementary schools and two secondary schools and two alternative schools.
Two Ottawa based school boards Conseil des ecoles publiques de l'Este de l'Ontario / Eastern Ontario French-Language Public School and Conseil des écoles Catholiques du Centre-Est / Eastern Ontario French-Language Catholic School offer elementary and secondary education in French. Pre-school, academic nursery and kindergarten are also available.
Post-secondary education is available locally through Algonquin College. Campuses are in Pembroke and Renfrew. The college is fully accredited and offers a wide range of full-time certificate programs. The University of Ottawa also offers courses at Algonquin College in Pembroke. Two major Canadian universities, Carleton University and the University of Ottawa, are within 45 km from the eastern boundary of Renfrew County.
