The 9-1-1 Dispatch system is an emergency call system that connects citizens to emergency services. If an emergency service needs to be dispatched, the 9-1-1 dispatch system will then alert the appropriate agency (Fire, Ambulance or Police) of the situation. The agency will then dispatch the necessary resources required to handle the emergency situation.
County of Renfrew property owners are required to have 911 signs visible so they can be easily seen by emergency responders. Every second counts in an emergency and precious time can be wasted if emergency responders can't locate the correct property!
Ordering a 911 Sign
Each municipality in the County of Renfrew has its own requirements for a property entrance to qualify for a civic address and its own fee structure for assessment and signage installation.
To apply for an address and sign, please contact your local municipality. The municipality will assess the safety and suitability of the property entrance. If the entrance meets the requirements they will work with you to install a 911 sign.

911 is a single emergency telephone number that makes it easier and faster for you to reach help. It's important to tell the dispatcher:
- Your name
- Telephone number you're calling from
- Your civic address
- Any location information that might help the responding agency find you
