Pembroke: The Province of Ontario and the County of Renfrew are working together to support essential and critical service workers during the COVID-19 outbreak. As part of the updated Provincial lockdown measures, school-aged children in publicly funded elementary schools will participate in remote learning from January 4 to January 22, 2021. During this period, emergency childcare services will be available for designated essential service providers who are not able to accommodate their school-aged child’s learning or care at home. The County of Renfrew is partnered with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit to ensure the protection and safety of the children, parents and staff in these centres.
Chair of the County of Renfrew Community Services Committee James Brose said, “The County of Renfrew is committed to supporting the essential service workers in our community by having child-care in place for these vital workers. Working with our licensed child-care providers in Renfrew County, and our partners at the Province; those that care for us can feel assured that their children are being looked after.”
Emergency child care services are reserved exclusively for children of essential service workers identified in the Province of Ontario’s List of Workers Eligible for Emergency Child Care who have no other alternatives. The safest option for families is to have children remain at home if possible.
Please complete the online Emergency Child Care Application to apply for emergency childcare. After you apply, you will be contacted by a County of Renfrew Child Care & Early Years staff if space is available. Your contact information will be submitted to your choice of daycare identified on the approved Emergency Child Care Centre List.
