Social Services Department becomes Community Services Department
PEMBROKE: At November’s session of County Council, a recommendation from the Social Services Committee was brought forward to propose a name change from The County of Renfrew Social Services Department to the County of Renfrew Community Services Department. The recommendation was passed unanimously by County Council.
The idea to shift the name to Community Services was raised under new business by the Chair of the Committee James Brose at the November session of Social Services Committee. The Committee discussed it at length and decided the new name would better reflect the modern and professional services delivered by the department to the community. Also, in the recommendation was a name change to the Social Housing Division to Community Housing Division.
Chair of the Community Services and Renfrew County Housing Corporation Committee, James Brose shared this, “This name change best reflects the true nature of the services we provide, they are community-based services. We are proud of the staff that work hard with our residents each day to support, guide and serve them with dignity and professionalism.”
“The change to Community Services aligns well with the work that is underway with the integration of services and upcoming move of this department into the County Administration Building in Pembroke. Our dedicated staff will continue to deliver the very best service to our residents as we transition not only the departmental name but to the new location,” said Warden Debbie Robinson.
