Back to SearchKawartha Lakes, August 19, 2020 – The Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (EOWC) joined more than 1,000 participants from across Ontario during the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference, which took place in a first-ever virtual format from August 17 to 19.
Led by EOWC Chair Andy Letham and Vice-Chair Rick Phillips, Caucus members met with Provincial Ministers and the NDP Caucus to discuss key priorities including COVID-19 municipal recovery, COVID-19 economic recovery, long-term care, and the EORN Cell Gap Project and Broadband Gap Strategy.
“The EOWC pivoted when the pandemic hit, and priorities were adjusted to reflect the needs of municipalities and local businesses,” stated EOWC Chair Andy Lethem. “The EOWC appreciated the Province’s willingness to hear our perspectives, as it will take strong partnerships between our governments to face the challenging years ahead.”
“The EOWC is always a critical partner and we will continue to work collectively in order to effectively represent the interests of eastern Ontario residents and businesses,” added Vice Chair Phillips.
AMO is a non-profit organization representing almost all of Ontario’s 444 municipal governments. AMO supports strong and effective municipal government in Ontario and promotes the value of municipal government as a vital and essential component of Ontario and Canada’s political system.
