Hey Students! Do You Have What It Takes to Be an Entrepreneur?

Pembroke, (ON): Enterprise Renfrew County (ERC) is searching for students who are smart, ambitious and eager to explore the world of entrepreneurship!

The Summer Company Program is unique opportunity for students ages 15 to 29 to create their own job and learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur. Students receive an initial financial award of up to $1,500 to help kick-start their business. Upon successful completion of the training, virtually due to COVID-19 precautions, and operation of their business to the end of August, student entrepreneurs will receive up to $1,500 as additional support for their business. Through experiential learning students acquire the essential skills and expertise to operate their business: financial management, sales, inventory control, marketing, and customer service.

ERC staff will work with successful applicants to enable them to turn their passion, career interest or hobby into a business.

In the past, ERC student businesses have included: street food vending stands, handmade artisanal items, artists, baked goods, market gardens, lawn care services, auto detailing, dog grooming, estheticians, firewood processors, upcycling clothing, handcrafted cottage décor and rustic furniture, children’s entertainment, photographers, photo restoration and, small engine repair.

ERC Business Consultant, Colleen Sadler, says; “Summer Company is an incredible program through which students are given the tools to learn how to be an entrepreneur.”

Summer Company is administered by Enterprise Renfrew County on behalf of the Province of Ontario. Enterprise Renfrew County has provided guidance to 147 young entrepreneurs in Renfrew County.

Summer Company is a highly competitive program with only seven (7) spaces available so we encourage interested students to apply at the earliest opportunity. Deadline for applications is midnight May 23rd, 2021.
