Pembroke: The County of Renfrew, which operates Miramichi Lodge recently provided the following update on the status of the COVID-19 outbreak within the Home.
The County of Renfrew regrets to advise the community that a second resident has died related to COVID-19. They extend their condolences to the family of this resident as well as to all the residents and staff at the Home.
There are currently three residents in the Home’s COVID Care Unit. Two residents have remained asymptomatic throughout the isolation with the positive results picked up through the Home’s ongoing surveillance testing. The other resident is now asymptomatic, had previously tested negative but recently received a positive result.
Residents on Home Area 2B were recently cleared to come out of isolation by the Renfrew County and District Health Unit. The residents on Home Area 3A remain in isolation, pending further testing.
Staff are also tested regularly on an ongoing basis. Currently, there is one positive staff result - that employee is isolating at home and had no close contacts identified through contact tracing.
The residents received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine on February 8th followed by their second dose on March 8th - only one resident was unable to receive it. Eighty-two percent of staff have been vaccinated to date with more scheduled and 98% of essential caregivers are vaccinated.
The County of Renfrew thanks the community for its understanding during this difficult time and assures the public it is continuing to make decisions in the best interest of residents and staff to ensure their health and safety is first and foremost.
