PEMBROKE, ON: It is always important to support our local businesses but especially now as the COVID-19 Crisis stretches into its fourth month. “The County of Renfrew recognizes the many hardships all our businesses and residents are facing”, states Renfrew County Warden Debbie Robinson.
Our businesses are the lifeblood of our communities and create the jobs and employment opportunities we all rely on for ourselves and our families. They create the character of our towns and villages, and directly support and sponsor many of our sports, cultural and social events and activities. Local business is a vital contributor to our tax base which supports our essential municipal services and recreation facilities.
The County of Renfrew is proud to launch our “Shop the Valley Contest” to support all local businesses. Shop local, support our business community and have fun doing it safely during this health crisis. Participating merchants from across the County and the Ottawa Valley, selling all kinds of products and providing all kinds of services, have generously contributed a broad range of prizes to our first “Shop the Valley Contest”.
It is easy and you can enter as often as you wish. Simply shop local at restaurants, stores, garden centres, craft brewers, etc. If you shopped in-store or did a curbside pickup get a selfie in front of the business. If you ordered on-line take a picture of the food or product you ordered and submit the photos with the receipt to OVEDINFO@CountyofRenfrew.on.ca
Warden Robinson has been deeply involved with the Renfrew County Economic Task Force, composed of business leaders from all sectors and from across the County who are advising County Council on the business issues and challenges they face during this economic crisis. “The COVID-19 Crisis has been a disaster for all our businesses, large and small. Our “Shop the Valley Contest” is one way to re-kindle and enhance the vital relationship between businesses and residents,” states the Warden. “Go on-line, make a phone call or visit a re-opened local business and Shop the Valley!” suggests Warden Robinson.
