The Taste of the Valley vendor market – the fourth event in the 2024 series – is taking place on Saturday, October 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Cobden Agricultural Hall and Fairgrounds located at 43 Astrolabe Road, Cobden.
Organized by the County of Renfrew’s Economic Development Division, the Taste of the Valley event series highlights all things grown, made and created in Renfrew County. While the original concept for the Taste of the Valley was to promote and support local food producers in the Ottawa Valley, over the years the events have evolved to encourage an expanded focus on the notion of “taste” with the celebration of local food, products, art and culture.
The Cobden event, featuring more than 140 vendors set up in the parking lot and inside the Agricultural Hall, will include fresh local produce alongside unique handcrafted products from talented artists and artisans, as well as baked goods, prepared hot food, jams and preserves from bakers and food producers across Renfrew County.
“The Township of Whitewater Region is thrilled to be a partner once again with the County of Renfrew to host the largest Taste of the Valley event,” said Debbie Ready, Finance Clerk with the Township. “Each year, this community event brings together more than 4,000 friends and neighbours, highlighting the incredible local vendors who showcase the best of what Renfrew County has to offer. Join us to support our local artisans, farmers and creators, and celebrate the flavors of our vibrant community!”
Under a new approach which began in 2023, Taste of the Valley events in 2024 are being held in partnership with host municipalities in Madawaska Valley; Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards; Petawawa, and Whitewater Region, drawing thousands of visitors from the Ottawa Valley, Ottawa and surrounding areas. The 2024 Holiday edition is being hosted in partnership with the Town of Renfrew on Saturday, December 14.
“We’ve already had a successful Taste of the Valley season and we look forward to capping it off with our largest vendor market in Cobden,” said Scott Hamilton, Economic Development Coordinator with the County of Renfrew’s Economic Development Division.
“Attendees will have a wide range of homegrown products to choose from; they will not be disappointed in the selection of all things grown, made and created in Renfrew County,” he added.
