Pembroke: County of Renfrew Economic Development, organizers of the Taste of the Valley Events, are proud to announce the official launch of a new Taste of the Valley website. The new website, www.totv.ca, like the live events, is a celebration and promotion of all things grown, produced and crafted within Renfrew County.
For over a decade, Taste of the Valley events have become increasingly popular within Renfrew County. The original concept was to promote and support local food producers and over the years the events have evolved to encourage an expanded focus on the notion of “taste” with the celebration of local food, products, art and culture.
Given concerns for public health and safety due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no live Taste of the Valley events have been taking place. Still, the pandemic has not reduced the need nor demand for local food and other products and our local producers and artisans are still hard at work. This summer, most farmers markets within Renfrew County are open and operating, and the new Taste of the Valley website will help inform and guide you to these as well as directly to local food producers and artisans throughout Renfrew County.
“Through COVID-19, as concerns about supply chains developed, awareness and demand for local food has grown and our local farmers and producers have worked hard to meet that demand and keep a fresh supply available. The new website for the Taste of the Valley will provide safe, year round support for people to learn about and have options to purchase local from food and beverage producers as well as local artisans,” shared Warden Debbie Robinson.
There are approximately 150 individual food producers and artisans listed with at least basic information on the new Taste of the Valley website. Vendors listed do have the opportunity to login to edit and update their listing and any Renfrew County food producers or artisans not listed, can submit to create a listing.
Take the opportunity to check out www.totv.ca for information and links to local farmers markets, food producers and artisans. The site will provide year round access to local food producers and artisans with a variety of options for getting in touch and purchasing locally.
The next time you want to get out for a drive, ride, bike or hike, come visit one of our celebrated outdoor farmers markets located in many of our picturesque small rural towns and villages. Take in the sights and enjoy the local produce, food, beverages, arts and crafts created by our local skilled and passionate growers, producers and artisans.
