Warden Robinson Recognizes Outstanding Community Champions
Ninth Annual Warden’s Community Service Awards Presented at County Council.
PEMBROKE, (ON): County of Renfrew Warden, Debbie Robinson presented this year’s Warden’s Community Service Awards at November’s session of County Council. The awards were presented in two categories. The Charbonneau’s Grocery in Calabogie was honoured as the recipient of the business category, and Cameron Dubé of Beachburg, Whitewater Region, and Dale Benoit-Zohr of Golden Lake, North Algona Wilberforce were each honoured with an individual award.
The Warden’s Community Service Awards recognize and promote the outstanding efforts by community champions in Renfrew County. Warden Robinson expressed her pleasure in bringing to light the excellent contributions the recipients have made to their communities. “All three of these recipients truly represent the best of community. By contributing their time and effort in a selfless and socially responsible manner they have clearly demonstrated what it means to be a Community Champion.”
Director of Development & Property, Craig Kelley in his address to council stressed the importance of the awards and the value of rewarding those who contribute in a positive manner to the County of Renfrew as a community. “The Warden’s Community Service Awards are designed to recognize and promote the social responsibility demonstrated by individuals and organizations that are making a difference in our community. These recipients truly demonstrate their commitment to Renfrew County’s quality of life and to making the County of Renfrew a better place in which to live and work.”
Each year, a Selection Review Committee comprised of the County of Renfrew Warden, Chief Administrative Officer, and one member of County Council select the award recipients. Nominees are considered in each of the three categories: Individual Person, Not-for-profit Organization, and For-profit Business. This year the selection committee decided to recommend two individuals and one for-profit recipients. All nominees are considered on the basis of criteria as to how they contribute to the County of Renfrew’s Quality of life.
